these days are focussing more on the styling of their fleet keeping the basic
comfort and convenience factors while designing a car. The same is the case
with the upcoming 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. Shedding off its look which it wore for
almost 8 years, the
2016 Chevy Cruze is arriving with a bolder appearance and numerous aspects
which were missing in the first generation.
Surely, this version deserves to be
labelled as the second generation Cruze with all the aspects it is arriving
with. As per the latest information, the new Chevy Cruze will land on the
Philippine soil somewhere in May 2016, though, this news is yet to receive a
confirmation from Chevy headquarters. The latest revisions given to this drive
is said keeping the updations given to its closest rivals Honda Civic and
Toyota Corolla Altis in mind.
Let's
have a look at what this the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is up to-
Power-Churner
The
current Chevrolet Cruze comes with an option of 1.8-litre DCVCP and 2.0-litre
turbo power unit but the American sedan will now house a humble yet
power-packed engine worth 1.4-litre. This turbo engine is capable of delivering
153 hp of power along with 240 Nm of torque which is pretty decent.
Mated with
6-speed HydraMatic GT35 automatic/ 6-speed manual gearbox, this 1.4-litre
powertrain is expected to knock out 17 kmpl on highways. Also, the acceleration
time from naught to 100 kmph is estimated to be 8 seconds. The new Cruze would
come shedding 113 kgs of weight which has surely enhanced its overall
efficiency and performance making it a tough machine overall for the rivals. A
speculation of a diesel engine is also in the air but no confirmation has been
received yet.
A Bold New Exterior
Though,
the existing Chevy Cruze was not that boring in looks but wearing the same for
8 years is definitely a long time. Finally, Chevrolet decided to give it a new
and bolder face and Viola, we are stunned! The first feature which caught our
eyeballs is its new front radiator grille which is now trapezoidal in shape and
bigger in size to enhance airflow for better engine performance. The new
stylish headlamps add more sportiness and style factor to this face.
Similar
revamped tail lamps and crisper creases all over the body are now ready to make
this compact sedan the latest stunner on the road. Also, the dimensions have
also given a boost and the new Cruze is now 69 mm longer, 7 mm wider and 19 mm
shorter. With this, the wheelbase has also been stretched with 16 mm which adds
more space at the cabin. The slippery sculpted body with revised front splitter
and fog lamps add beauty.
The Captivating Cockpit
The adaptations are not restricted to the exterior and engine and has made its way
towards the cabin of this drive. The modern cockpit of new Chevrolet Cruze has
a duel design just like the other Chevy drives. A perfect mixture of matte
black and piano black finishes add the luxury element to this area. The upscale
cabin has a leather interior trimming while the dash has chrome accents for
added aesthetics.
For entertainment, a 4.2-inch display, Chevy patent MyLink
infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and
wireless phone chargers are provided. Overall it would be a delight to see this
cabin packed with a fresh feeling and some added luxury & comfort.
Safety Kit
The
American automaker has always kept safety of the occupants first and foremost
in its drives and carrying forward the same tradition in the new Cruze, it has
an advanced safety kit comprising features like Forward Collision Warning,
Blind Zone Warning, lane Keep assistance and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert along
with other standard safety aspects that of the existing Chevy Cruze.
Along with
this, the exterior structure built of about 8 percent in high-strength steel
makes the body 27 stiffer while keeping it light in weight overall. The stiffed
structure ensures to absorb more impact energy safeguarding the occupants in a
better way after a hit or collision.
Overall,
the new Chevrolet Cruze sounds like a big threat to some of the big names in
the auto industry and they should better gear up to fight with the upcoming
rival. As users, the prospective customers should feel excited for the upcoming
version of Chevy Cruze. The revisions which the drive has gone through make it
more passenger-friendly and comfort oriented.
